The German Lotto (Deutsche Lotto 6 aus 49) is one of Europe's biggest lottery games and pays out around 2.8 billion (EUR) to lottery winners each year.

This year at least 364 players will become instant millionaires when they win the German Lotto jackpot prize. Many thousands of others will win big cash prizes in the lower divisions.

German Lotto 6 aus 49 produces more winners than any other lottery and pays out some of the largest prizes of any lotto every week, at least 45 million (USD).

The minimum jackpot prize is 1 million (EUR).

How to play the German Lotto

In order to win the German Lottery, you need to match 6 numbers with the balls drawn from 49 and also a seventh number (Super Number) with the next ball drawn from a second set of 10 balls. Do that and you will win the jackpot!

You only need to match 3 main balls to win a prize.

German Lotto is played every Wednesday and Saturday.

History

The German Lotto began in 1955 and was the world’s first modern style lotto.

In 1974 the Lotto 6 aus 49 was launched and has been the most popular lottery game in Germany to this day.

It is managed by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany making it one of the richest and largest lotteries in the world.

The German Lottery's record jackpot was won in December 2007 and was a massive 43 Million (EUR), it was won on a free ticket given away by a national newspaper.

Prior to this, the biggest jackpot was 37.6 Million (EUR) which was won on October 7th 2006.
