Not to be confused with the El Gordo lottery, the El Gordo de la Primitiva is the weekly lotto from the Spanish National Lottery (Loteria Nacional) which is played on Sundays.
The Loteria Nacional places 70% of it's combined lottery funds back into the prize pool making the Spanish lotteries some of the most lucrative in the world.
The minimum jackpot is 5 million (EUR). If the jackpot is not won, a rollover occurs and it is added to the following draw, increasing the prize fund each time until it is won.
The El Gordo de la Primitiva is a 5 from 54 plus 1 from 10 lottery game. In order to win the jackpot of this Spanish lotto, you need to match 5 numbers with the lotto balls drawn plus 1 number from the pool of 10 balls.
El Gordo de la Primitiva is drawn once per week on Sunday.
